Works To Be Tried By Fire

Focus: 1 Corinthians 3:13 - KJV

13. Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15

There are different categories of believers in the body of Christ: there are those who believe as long as they are born again, it is sufficient as it guarantees heaven to them; there are others who know that since God worked from the beginning, they ought also to work and therefore they do work, albeit haphazardly; there are those who are committed to doing the work as Christ would approve; and yet, there are those who do the work for self-aggrandizement. Some of those who do haphazard and self-praising works do them as if to lay a different foundation than that which is laid, which is Christ Jesus. They tend to muddle up the doctrine of Christ with the tradition of the fathers, thereby creating a confusion in the body. Some others just lay their own foundation totally different from Christ and His word.

Yes, scriptures say the workers may have their works burnt when tested by fire and still be saved by fire themselves. It is however, important to note that all those who work iniquity shall be rejected on that day of the Lord. There are those who are considered to build gold, silver, precious stones on the foundation laid by Christ. When their works are put through the fire it can only come out refined and more glorious. Others that built wood, hay and stubble know that their works would not withstand the fire already. Refusing to spend time on the lost to ensure their conversion is a manner of work built with hay or stubble; spending time to evangelize without follow up can be likened to the wood kind of work. Those whose converts/fruits abide are the workers of gold etc. The workers of iniquity are those who use ministry to deceive others.

Beloved, whether we want to acknowledge it now or not, it cannot be right that someone like Peter and Paul would do the kind of works they did and get the same kind of reward like the lay Christian gets. The entry point into the work may not be material as long as it stands the test of fire. There will surely be reward for every work done in the body. Those who do work are pruned and further endowed with grace to do more and bring forth more fruit. As their fruits increase, so do their rewards on the last day. The reason we are so cold and unassuming is because we refuse to throw ourselves into the work Christ has given us. His command to go into all the world and preach the Gospel is for all believers to obey. Disobedience is a pointer to great consequences in the end. Please heed today.

SOLUTION: Create time out of your seeming busy schedule to serve God by doing His work. That busy stuff may be a distraction from the pit of hell to rob you of your reward. Never allow anything to push the work of the Kingdom into a second place. We ought always to seek first the Kingdom and God’s righteousness. Do it and receive peace.

Please pray: Lord, I give you my life, and my soul; please have your way in me in the name of Jesus Christ. Help me to build upon your foundation golden blocks that would stand the test of fire, so that my reward may be sure in the end, in the name of Jesus.
