Focus: 1 Corinthians 3:19 - KJV
19. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1 Corinthians 1:18-25
Wisdom is good and it helps in the acquisitions and achievements on this side of eternity. But there is wisdom and there is wisdom. Herod was a wise king: he learnt of a child king being born in his domain and told the wise men from the east to visit the child king and come back with tidings about the same, that he may also visit him, having the mind of killing him thereby. His wisdom became foolishness when the wise men went through another route to their destination. Pharaoh and Egypt were wise: they thought to pursue Israel through the Sea with chariots and horses to cause an easy catch up. Only to become filled with the Sea in death. The people of Jericho thought it wise to build a fortification spending time and huge resources, to forestall external attack. Only for their wise fortitude to be brought down by the echo of the shouting of a people without dozers.
So then, the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. Or, the foolishness of God is wiser than any man. There is a form of wisdom that is of man, otherwise called of the world; it is crass foolishness where God is. That wisdom that makes one to acquire wealth in an ill way is foolishness – for what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul. The wisdom that makes one put others in bondage so as to be the one afloat or above in rulership is foolishness in disguise. No wickedness shall go unrewarded. But the wisdom of God is pure and far wiser than men. For His ways are not our ways, neither His thoughts our thoughts. The three Hebrew men could not assume that they would be thrown in fire and come out unhurt and get promoted thereafter. Peter would have assumed he was in trouble for lack of money to pay tax not knowing that a fish can become an Automatic Teller Machine to supply money to God’s anointed. God’s wisdom is unsearchable.
The Lord is asking us to lean on Him and not on the world for wisdom in anything. No one knew that by the foolishness of sending Jesus to the cross the entire mankind will be saved from sin. It appeared to those who concocted it as the solution that would silence Him. But they were wrong. In the early days of the Church and up till now, it is the foolishness of preaching that saved them that believed. If we get it into ourselves to appreciate the wisdom of God over that of the world, then would we realize that no matter what the world is putting together that appears scary at the moment, it is nothing compared to the wisdom the Lord is about to unleash in the matter. Let therefore, no one assume he is wise in his conceit to defeat the Lord in His righteousness. Let us all subsume our thoughts under the wisdom of God and therein gain life.
SOLUTION: Do everything possible to obtain the wisdom from above as against earthly/worldly wisdom which is inverted and profits little. Those who have the wisdom from above always laugh last and are assured eternal life.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God who possesses all wisdom and power and domicile it in Christ Jesus
· Ask God to override every activity of the enemy borne out of worldly wisdom over your life and family today
· Ask God to endow you with His wisdom that you may overcome the vagaries of the enemy in trying to get you down
· Pray that every wisdom and power of wickedness fails over you, your family and nation from today
· Ask for your daily bread today
