31. And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.
James 1:9-11
Life on earth is quite short and what everyone does in the world is but for a short time. It is important for every man to realize that time is never friendly to man. There are many who came and are gone before; the same places they walked and left are those we are treading today and yet others would come after us to tread the same paths. In the sands of time, it is what everyone contributes that is recorded for him. Even at that, many of these things are soon forgotten and become strange to the hearing of those who would come after. Life is like the seasons of time. If we abuse a season, it is our undoing and not that of the season.
Like a flower or grass that sprouts or glitters at the appearing of the sun and goes lame at the going down thereof, so is the life of every man on earth. Solomon in all his splendor as king is just history and nothing more. He is, at best, a teaching tool to those who are alive now. Some lived in splendor in the not-so-distant past that are pointers to people of how not to abuse this world. But by the influence of the devil, many are blind to see, and deaf to hear the lessons derived from the abuse of those past actors and keep repeating their form of misdeeds.
It is of God that we learn from those who had gone before and therefore put our hearts unto wisdom. We are called to live and leave the world unabused so that we may have a good record to leave in the world, for whatever it is worth, and a great testimony hereafter. Let riches not blind us to the extent of forgetting to do the will of God which is to love. Those who trample on others will have others trample on their offspring and even their memory when they leave the scene. Many are not even allowed to leave the scene before they start to reap the essence of their abuse in an incapacitated state. Live right and leave well.
Please pray:
Thank you, father for giving me this world to live in without me being of the world. Please help me to realize my citizenship always so as to know how not to abuse the world where I am a stranger, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let your power keep me above pettiness that surrounds the quest to be rich, Daddy Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let my legacy for the world be one that no man can discard just like the legacy of the Lord Jesus Christ and many of His Apostles, Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
