The Tower Of Confusion

Focus: Genesis 11:4 - KJV

4. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

Psalm 106:26-27

After man brought confusion upon the earth through Adam, he started to grope in darkness looking for a way out. In that state of mind, he must have realized that his calamity was because he had been separated from the Lord who was the source of his light. Hence, he took fleshly counsel to build a tower that touches the heaven. Unfortunately, light and darkness cannot cohabit, neither can the flesh satisfy the things of the Spirit. Any time such happens, God looks to the intent to respond, and because on this occasion, it was done for fleshly purposes, God rejected it.

The life of Cornelius reflects a life building a tower towards heaven in the flesh. All his effort and fleshly actions could not get his building to touch heaven. But God saw that he genuinely intended in his actions to gain the Spirit without knowing of the existence of the Spirit. Hence, that he may enter into affinity with the Spirit, God sent Peter to minister Christ to him. Whilst Peter yet ministered, once his heart connected with it, the Lord allowed his actions to connect with heaven and released the Holy Spirit upon him. He became transformed and thenceforth was building a tower of purpose, as against confusion.

The Lord has said all our righteousness are like filthy rags before Him. We are to stop our fleshly efforts in trying to reach heaven and rather hinge on to the Spirit of God. No matter what we do in the flesh, it profits us nothing. They are worthless and bring more confusion than fulfilment. Let us therefore, abstain from thinking it is our lustful acts that would endear us to God. We are to live by the Spirit and not fulfil the lusts of the flesh. Stop stealing to give bountifully in Church so that people may see and assume you are doing a great fete for God, for example. Such amounts to building a tower of confusion which the Lord will eventually blow away, or scatter.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for introducing me to your Spirit such that all that I do, is directed of your Spirit. Everything in me, that may want to yield to the flesh, please expunge today, in the mighty name of Jesus. Let all that I build be towers of righteousness that connects me to you dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. And beginning now, let me begin to experience heaven on earth from where I have built a tower of righteousness, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
