The Spotless Believer

Focus: 2 Peter 3:13-14 - KJV

13. Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Philippians 2:12-15

Yesterday by the grace of God, we learnt that to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints we ought to be sanctified by the word, fully. The Lord needs us to truly appreciate the fact that sin is a reproach to many, no matter how little it may appear. Hence, today, He needs us to appreciate the fact that His promise of a new heaven and a new earth is for real and that it is not an automatic ticket for just declaring a belief in God, no. It is reserved for those whom He would find to be in peace, spotless and blameless. He seeks the same. That by itself means that they are neither many nor easily accessible because they operate in a world full of filth and remain unscathed in the midst thereof, yet are identifiable with due care and diligence. Invariably, it means that many who claim to be born again may not get to the place reserved for the saints. No spot or wrinkle will ever be allowed into it.

The subject of filth and total eradication thereof, should occupy the minds of believers. If the word be true that the eyes of the Lord will not behold iniquity, how can we assume that He would, in partiality, allow some to pass and close His eyes to others? Unless the believer cleanses himself wholly from filth, he is not going to be part of the team that inherits the Kingdom. Let us therefore be clear, God will not waste His words to tell us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling as well as that we should endure to the end, if the same be not necessary. The carefree attitude of many about this subject will be responsible for their rejection at the critical time. Jesus did say, many would say they cast out devils in His name and He would tell them to depart from Him. What can make that happen? It is that He would claim not to know them for they bear spots and carry blame. Spots and blame make the believer unrecognizable to the Master.

The Lord is sounding the trumpet very loud again because of His mercy that we may check ourselves again and be compliant with His tenets and not necessarily the lies we have been fed with. God will never deny Himself because of what we have wrongly imbibed. It is true that God is merciful and gracious which is why He is crying out loudly now. When the fullness of time shall come, there will no longer be grace or mercy in application. Now, not tomorrow, but today is the day of our salvation. Delay is dangerous. The sooner we start to jettison all that casts on us spots, blemish or wrinkles, the better for us. God loves us but He will not because of us become a liar. That will be Him changing His nature because of those who refuse to be like Him.

SOLUTION: Be holy even as the Lord your God is holy is the Lord’s injunction. He told Abram to walk and be perfect. Oh! That is Old Testament? Well, even Christ insists you obey His commands which border on complete holiness or simply put, love. Take away everything that is not loving and fulfill the will of the Father.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for He is good and His mercy has endured thus far upon your life

·      Pray God to please uphold you in holiness by His Spirit that you may never be found in filth or carrying spots or wrinkles of any kind in the day of the Lord

·      Ask God to please cleanse you of every filth by the reason of the blood of Jesus that you may continue to shine brightly to the glory of His name

·      Pray that the eyes of understanding of many more be opened to the truth of the word of God that they may cling to holiness to the end by the help of His power

·      Ask for your daily bread for today.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name
