Focus: John 10:4 - KJV
4. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
John 10:1-6
The concept of shepherding is akin to raising a child or children in a home. When the child hears the voice of his parents or anyone of them, he recognizes same. When strangers speak, he sees them as such. Hence, when a stranger goes to pick up children in school, the one who knows the voice of his parent would never rise to follow the stranger, unless of course the stranger lures him with a lie and he falls for the bait. If, however the parent had sternly warned him not to heed the voice of any stranger ever, it becomes more difficult for the stranger to persuade him to follow.
Our God speaks to His children like a shepherd does his sheep, and the children do know and recognize His voice. Unfortunately, the child that fails to follow the voice of the father is slain by the thief to the hurt of the father but more to the loss of the child. When Adam was lured away from the voice of the father, it was hurtful to the father but the greater pain was Adam’s. Many have also been in the same situation to their own detriment. Talk about Moses, Samson, king Saul, David, many of the kings in Samaria and Judah, Judas Iscariot, Ananias and Sapphira, the list is almost endless. Those who do hearken to the voice of the father are full of glory and wellbeing, to the Lord.
This day, the Lord is asking if we do recognize His voice well enough to follow and not deviate from whatever He tells us to do. To be certain about His voice, we need to be very conversant with it and that is attained in the place of constant prayer and great spiritual exercise. We need to create more time to meditate on the word that we may start to gain the Rhema and begin to acquire access into the realm of God to hear the audible voice from time to time and never to mistake the voice again. We can do this and, yes, God speaks to His children and He still speaks.
Please pray:
Thank you, Lord for the grace to be named amongst your children. Please grant me access to your realm where I can hear the ordinarily inaudible conversations and listen to you always so that I may be conversant with your voice and be led by it in all my affairs, in Jesus’ name. Do lead me in the path of righteousness by your voice and help me never to heed the voice of any stranger throughout the rest of my life, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
