Focus: James 1:25 - KJV
25. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
James 1:21-25
Upon receiving the ten commandments from the Lord on tablets, Moses proclaimed laws unto Israel which laws were meant to liberate them but did not, for rather than make them free, they got further enmeshed in darkness from generation to generation. But then, Christ came and gave to mankind the perfect law of liberty, which is love and assured us of blessing for as long as we can stick with the doing of that which is loving. For whatever is not loving points towards stealing, killing and destruction which are the three legs of Satan’s ministry. Anyone found in it has no liberty and therefore, not blessed at all.
Judas Iscariot heard the perfect law of liberty. Rather than continue in it being not forgetful in hearing but doer, he refused to do. Rather, he preferred pecuniary gain and cared less what would happen to the one he was told to give up for the money he was promised. He fell short of blessing for it. Many people are like that today: rather than show love and be loving to their brethren, they will rather give them away for their selfish interest forgetting that to love is to do unto others as we would have others do unto us. It appears good to the evildoer to profit from destroying others, whereas he cries wolf whenever it appears anyone moves against him.
The Lord is asking us to uphold love and be blessed. We uphold it by acting on everything the Lord has directed us to do to show love: forgive them that trespass against you, do not avenge yourself, love your enemies and pray for them that despitefully use you, if someone slaps you on the right cheek turn the other to him rather than retaliate, and above all, if you realize that someone is not happy with you for any reason at all, look for the same and reconcile with him promptly. By these we show our love to God and our fellow beings. Difficult? Yeah! But not when we seek the help of the Holy Spirit.
Please pray:
Thank you, father Lord for the grace we have in your perfect law of liberty. Help us from today to abide truly in the same that we may be pleasing unto you and be pronounced blessed, in the name of Jesus. I confess that I have difficulty in my body to come to terms with praying for those who have been wicked unto me and loving them, but because of your word, please help me by your Spirit to begin to do so from today, in Jesus’ name. Put on me the grace to reconcile with all and sundry without difficulty, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
