Focus: Revelation 3:5 - KJV
5. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Revelation 20:11-15
There is a hurdle for every man who has lived on earth to overcome: it is the tragedy of the second death. It is written that it is appointed unto a man once to die, and after that, judgment. We have found from scripture that when a person dies, he either goes to paradise or to hell. Those who are taken to paradise would have their time to be heard at the white throne judgment; those who are railroaded to hell will also be given up by it when the time to judge them comes. But those who are taken to paradise are they who, while on earth, worked out their salvation with fear and trembling and got their names written in the Book of Life. Those found in hell will be those who did not countenance God on earth and are found in the other Books who will then be thrown with hell and death into the lake of fire.
From the story of the rich man and Lazarus, we find that the torment in hell is gruesome. While Lazarus enjoyed in paradise otherwise called Abraham’s bosom, the rich man pleaded for a drop of water into his mouth from the tip of Lazarus’ finger. But what would such a drop do in the circumstance of grueling thirst? Yet the rich man wanted it. How then will the state of the sinner be after judgment, when he is consigned with hell and death to the lake of fire? Interestingly, some may have their names written in the Book of Life and have it eventually blotted out. That will be a great mockery of a life.
The Lord wants us to love Him not just so that we may not end up in hell but because He first loved us. He is not asking us for mechanical love but true hearts of love. We must move away from loving God when we enjoy peace but learn to love Him and retain Him as the God of our lives even in the face of trouble. When we do, it will soon be glaring to all whom our God is and we will surely overcome by having our names written indelibly in the Book of Life, so that we may live in the end.
Please pray:
Thank you, Lord for the grace to know you and the expectation that you will not blot my name out of the Book of Life. Please help me to become an overcomer to the end and have my name retained in the Book of Life, in Jesus’ name. It is your mind that none should perish, papa; help each and every one to overcome by reason of the blood of the Lamb that was shed for us, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. In all, never allow us to taste death, not to talk of the second death, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
