The Duty Of Man

Focus: Ecclesiastes 12:13 - KJV

13. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Luke 6:46-49

The whole essence of man’s being is not just to hear, but to do, the will of God. From the very beginning in the garden, up till the time of Noah, through Moses’ period and even the Lord Jesus Christ, all the message of the scripture is to fear God and obey His commandments. If only man has been found good in this, then would we have truly had dominion over the earth without the devil messing things up like we observe now.

When we do fear God to obey Him, Christ Himself liken us to being wise and building on a solid foundation. Those who do not His commands are rather likened to building on shifty sand which building cannot stand the test of time and weather conditions. This analogy shows clearly even in the lives of many today. Those who live by the tenets of God are contented with life and blossom in their God. Others have issues with peace.

The Lord is inviting us to choose what we would rather have: life through obedience, or shifty base otherwise. However, He needs us to realize that our formation is based on only one premise: Fear God, love Him and obey His commands. It is important we take this to heart and begin to act on it from today on, for the fullness of the benefits of the kingdom.

Please pray:

Father, we thank you for your love over us and your willingness to always take care of us. From this day, help us to be fully obedient to you in all we do so that we may reap the benefit thereof, continually. Please, prevent us by your Spirit, from becoming proud and therefore failing to fear you in any of our deeds or ways. Kindly bless us with the Spirit of obedience to the very end, in Jesus’ name. Let your will be done and fulfilled in our lives from today, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
