Focus: Philippians 1:29 - KJV
29. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Matthew 5:10-12
The believer’s fate is an interesting one. When he decides for Christ, he relinquishes every entitlement to the kingdom of darkness with a view to gaining life and that, in abundance. However, the dark world is not known to let go easily. Hence, upon signing up for life and life more abundantly, the world raises all manner of tribulations against him, some from quarters he would least expect. The world does all this to cause the believer to regret his action in accepting the light. They will curse him, taunt him and mesmerize him for righteousness’ sake. All these are part of the cross he is called to bear for Christ’s sake. The Lord expects him to stand firm for Him in all of this because we ought not to faint in the days of adversity. Every such believer that stands is pronounced blessed by the Lord.
While Saul of Tarsus was going about persecuting the Church, he had hailers about him agreeing with his deeds. When he became transformed into Paul the believer, he was a deserted Saul and often persecuted by his erstwhile friends. Moving to the side of Christ is glorious as it offers greater peace than the world can ever offer. It however, is an invitation to war from the hands of the wicked. His solace is in the fact that his Lord, Jesus Christ already conquered the world for him. If he does not faint, he has a crown of glory waiting for him in the Lord’s kingdom.
The Lord is telling us before hand to expect tests and temptations. The devil is never happy that we desert him. He does everything to pull us down and drag us back into his horrible pit. We are to stand firm and resolute in whom we believe. And if we steadfastly resist the devil, he will surely flee from us. On the flip side, the Lord is raising a warning for all those who engage in wanting to drag someone down at all cost that they are only fulfilling the devil’s enterprise and pitching their camp against God. They will not go unpunished. Which is why God is raising the warning before it becomes too late. The more they battle the innocent, the more they affect the work of the Lord in the same’s hand and thereby draw the wrath of God.
SOLUTION: Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. No matter the adversity, be resolute in your kingdom pursuit. All those pulling believers down with a view to bringing them down to an initial low ebb, should desist otherwise, they will draw the wrath of the Lord.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for making you a believer and keeping you in the faith
· Ask God for strength to withstand the wiles and devices of the enemy when trouble does come
· Ask God to blindfold your adversaries so that they may never capture you to drag down
· Plead the blood of Jesus over yourself and your entire household to cut off the hands of the evildoer from your family
· Ask for your daily bread today
