Focus: Luke 14:13-14 - KJV
13. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: 14. And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
Luke 14:12-15
The mind of God is to take care of the poor and needy. He never created any with a view to having them poor. It is the manipulation introduced into the world by the enemy that brought about disparity amongst people. That manipulation has become so entrenched in the systems of the world and it is responsible for making some people to look at others as slaves or people of lower estate and therefore, must be put to servitude. It is that mentality that makes some want to engage others as menial workers, not because they are less qualified to occupy high valuing offices but because of the manipulation in the world. To ameliorate the effect of the manipulation on many, the Lord, who is love, will rather have the affluent organize feasts and invite those underprivileged to the feast rather than those that have been made privileged as a result of the manipulation. Giving to those who are able to reciprocate one’s action is of no significant value when rewards will be distributed.
It is rather interesting that despite the clear instruction of the Lord, when the rich in the modern day organizes a feast, he invites only those he considers to be in his own class. Indeed, he organizes security men often referred to as bouncers, to bar the less privileged from getting near the venue. And because the less privileged perceive that there would be so much food to waste at such feasts, they get nearer there for some leftover and perhaps tips from the attendees of such feasts only to be treated with disdain and looked down on like they were not created by God. Meanwhile, God is more pleased with the less privileged being the sole partakers of such feast. The story of the rich man and Lazarus appear not to teach anything to this so-called privileged people. They are always holding feasts inviting one another and not mixing other faces outside their ilk.
The Lord is reiterating His position to us that whenever we give to the poor or needy who cannot give back to us, we actually lend unto Him. Such loan is not something that can be fully paid in our lifetime but will extend into eternity for the benefit of the giver. Let us therefore, be intentional about organizing feasts for the needy alone, from time to time. We celebrate birthdays, house warming, Christmas and what have you and exclude the poor from our gatherings. The Lord is saying these celebrations should be targeted at having the needy as the ones in the guest room as attendees. It is most horrifying to gather and throw money one to another in huge sums while we neglect to give a nickel to that seeming beggar standing by the party venue looking for how to feed himself and perhaps a family. God is never served in such matters.
SOLUTION: Let us be intentional in holding feasts for the poor and needy alone, from time to time, going forward. We ought not to seek recompense for our feasts here on earth but in the great beyond when we meet with our Lord.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for the resources He has bestowed you with and not letting you fall into the class of beggars
· Ask God to please enrich you the more that you may be His representative in the ministry of providing for the needy
· Pray that God will give you the fortitude to use the seed He gives to you for the purpose for which it is released at every opportunity and time
· Ask God to reward you pleasantly for taking care of the needy per time.
· Ask for your daily bread for today
