6. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
John 15:14-17
Salvation is the work of the Holy Spirit. Indeed, the Trinity is involved in it. The father draws to Christ, Christ administers salvation with His blood, and the Holy Ghost takes the recipient over to teach him all things and bring to his remembrance that which Christ has said so that he may remain on course for ultimate salvation. Hence, the work started by the Lord by drawing us from darkness into His marvelous light, He is able to perform it through the Holy Spirit, that we may remain faithful to the day of Jesus Christ, which day will be heralded with the sound of the trump and our taking up.
Incidentally, although the Lord is able to perform the good work He has started in us, He will however, respect the free will in us to choose how we want to end. The Lord started a good work in Balaam by telling him not to heed the position of Balak in cursing Israel. But Balaam decided he was going to respect the invitation of Balak against the direction of God. To perform the good work He started, even though Balaam was in disobedience, the Lord sent an angel to waylay him in order to prevent him from carrying through his evil intent, to put him back on the right track. If he had not heeded the voice of his donkey, he would have suffered the repercussion of his choice in the hands of the angel that bore the sword.
The Lord is willing to go to all lengths to ensure we all finish well and strong. There is however a point when the elasticity of mercy may snap like in the case of Moses. The Lord did tell him never to raise the issue of entering into the promised land again after he had made a choice that broke the elasticity of God’s long suffering in his case. We are to please ensure that we stay in the line of teachability under the Holy Spirit at all times, so as to let the Lord perform the good work He started in us. Let us determine to be fully obedient from today.
Please pray:
Daddy, I thank you for the work of salvation you have been doing over my life. I don’t want the work to come to waste regarding my life and the lives of all those you have drawn to yourself through our ministration. Do therefore help us by your Spirit to remain in obedience even in a better form from now on, that you may eventually perform the work regarding our lives in Jesus’ name. Please do not let any of us become a shipwreck in the way, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
