3. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
James 1:5-8
The way of the believer is sustained in faith for without it, none can please the Lord. Even though we do not see Him, yet He is, and a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. When we do know our God exists, we will put absolute trust in Him and hold Him to His word for even though heaven and heart may pass away, His word or a jot thereof, will not. Hence, those who trust Him enjoy peace like a river, no matter the strength of a ravaging storm in their vicissitude. Hence, God enjoins us to receive Him like little children for the child trusts the father that he would not let him encounter hurt.
The Lord Jesus Christ was in a boat with His disciples at a time; and there was a horrible storm on the sea that night. While the disciples were troubled and lost their peace thinking they were about to perish, Jesus was in a part of the same boat sleeping. He was in such perfect peace that the roar of the storm did not move Him since He trusted the father to keep hold of Him. After His ascension, the one who challenged Him in the boat in the storm was faced with a serious quagmire. He must have recalled what Jesus did in the storm in that he refused to lose his peace through worry, such that while he was awaiting execution at the next sun, he slept with perfect peace in the prison to the extent that when an angel came to his rescue, he could not be bothered and felt he dreamt.
On this fateful day, the Lord is telling us to fear not but cast all our burdens, troubles and worries upon Him. Those who do will enjoy perfect peace because that which we fear will not happen under His watch. It is merely a mirage. But those who do not, would lose their peace for nothing as the things they fear may never happen. If we do know the might of our God, we would realize that there is no storm too strong for Him to still or surmount.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for the peace I have in you and the ways you have stilled storms in my life in times past. I commit my life and my ways into your care because I rest on you in absolute terms; nothing wavering but resting on you. Let every storm therefore, cease with immediate effect by your power, in the name of Jesus. Please make my day great and my tomorrow better in Jesus’ name. Let me never lose my trust in you or lose your peace for me ever, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
