4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Romans 8:14-17
The benefits in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus transcends merely saving us from sin and death, and extends to reconciling us to our God and indeed having us adopted into the family of God as His children, with Jesus Christ Himself being the first born. Incidentally, for everyone who, through this adoption becomes a child of God, all the benefits of being God’s descendant is available. However, it will appear that many are said to be believers but do not have access to the rights of the child.
For every right there are corresponding duties. Even though it is the Lord that predestinated us in Christ Jesus to be His heirs, since our father is holy, it behoves those who must be His children to be holy. Where there is lack of holiness in a believer, his sonship becomes suspect and there is a call for checking the same DNA for it is impossible for the son of God to sin or dwell in filth. This accounts for the reason many who are believed to be born again do not really portray the traits of the sons of God.
God is telling us that our sonship makes some rights available unto us which we are yet to be privy to for as long as we allow filth of any quantum to be in us. To have the full benefit of the death and resurrection of Christ therefore, we are invited to forsake the devil and all of his handiworks so that we may become fully acceptable unto our God. When we start to operate in our rights, it becomes difficult for the enemy to prevail in anything over us for we are indeed, sons of the Most High.
Please pray:
Thank you, Lord for adopting us into your family and making us to operate in realms higher than all principalities and powers in heavenly places. By your power, please help me to be holy even as you are holy; separate between me and all works of darkness as well as iniquity, in Jesus’ name. Let the rights embedded in my sonship with Christ start to show in my life from today better than ever to the glory of your name, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
