Living Through Christ

Focus: 1 John 4:9 - KJV

9. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

1 John 4:7-12

Prior to the coming into the world of the Lord Jesus Christ, men lived by their own stealth in a manner akin to the survival of the fittest - the fittest in strength, manipulation and all manner of ills. Wickedness pervaded the whole space, despite the old treatise presented by those called men of God of the times. There was none that stood out as an example of the being of God and therefore could not be emulated to be like God. Hence, God, because of His love for mankind, presented to us His only begotten son to be unto us an example of how to live a life of love, for God is Love.

To live in love therefore, is to live life through Christ. This simply means doing only those things Christ would do and abstaining from what He would not do. Christ lived His life on earth loving. From dealing with darkness wherever it was found, to setting the captives free, delivering the oppressed, forgiving the naughtiest of offenders and giving hope to the hopeless. And then, He laid down His life for our sin for which we were meant to die, and died in our stead. There is no greater love than that, ever. This is the example of Christ, and this is how to live through Him. We are to love others to the extent of not minding to bear the blame that there may be reconciliation.

The Lord is calling us out of all our shenanigans and pretexts of religion into the realities of living through Christ. We cannot claim to know Christ if we refuse to love like Him, neither can we claim to live through Him when it is difficult to forgive one another of our menial, not to talk of odious, offences. If indeed, we want to reign with Christ, we are to get serious with the issue of love and do only the things approvable of Christ, going forward. Of course, life is a matter of choices. Those who prefer life will decide right now to live through Christ and become separate from everything that He abhors.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the perfect example I have in Christ Jesus. I acknowledge that He is a part of the God-head and yet, He lived as man to show me the example of how to live on earth. From this day, please help me to live in love just like the Lord my perfect example, in Jesus’ name. Whatever will make me to deviate from this perfect way, please do not let it happen to me Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let this day bring me joy unlimited through the love I will show to others, in Jesus’ name.
