Hope For The Living

Focus: Ecclesiastes 9:4 - KJV

4. For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

Ecclesiastes 9:4-6

Whilst we are yet alive, there is hope for redemption. Everyone who is physically alive and live by faith in Christ Jesus have life. Those who do not live by Him are considered, scripturally as dogs, for they are outside the fold of God. Jesus is the lion of the tribe of Judah. Everyone that through Him becomes a son of God is also a lion. However, when a lion falls into sin, he is considered dead to God. Those that are considered dogs may repent and join the fold to become lions; but once a lion be dead, unless he quickly retraces his steps, he is a wasted life.

Demas was a lion as he was one of the disciples of Apostle Paul. But from the moment he took preference of the world over the kingdom, he became a dead lion; as a dog, he had returned to his vomit. Saul of Tarsus was a living dog: the hope of life for him became sure when he encountered Christ and was converted into a lion. He never shed his skin as a lion and therefore did not die, spiritually. The living dog, Saul of Tarsus, is therefore better than Demas, a dead lion.

Anyone that lays his hands on the plough and looks back is not fit for the kingdom. It is important that we trust the one we believe as He is out to bring us to life and life more abundantly. We are also to extend the same life to others who, like us in our past, are still lingering in darkness, seeking the light and life. When we minister to them, the hope of life in them is rekindled and there is joy in heaven.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the grant of life and life more abundantly to all believers. I pray, please keep me attached to you as the source of my nutrients, strength, provision, guidance and direction so that I may never be a dead, but living lion; and that I will forever be better than any dog, to the glory of your name. Let me never be lost from your fold, O Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let this day mark a turning point for better in my walk with you that my life may take a boost from you, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
