Focus: Malachi 1:6 - KJV

6. A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

Luke 6:46-49

It is the mind of God that a child should honor his father and mother, so that he may live well and long on earth. God Himself is the father of the believer. Hence, if the ordinary child is to honor the father, how much more should the believer, being God’s own child, honor God? Man is fond of dishonoring God on every form of excuse. Yet, God ought to be honored by all for being the giver of life. So, the heathen despises the name of God treating Him any which way they feel they should; even the believer, whom God prides in, fails to give honor to the one who has done so much for him to put him in a pride of place in this life.

A believer who would honor God will be one who hears the word of God, takes it to heart and fulfils that which the word prescribes. The Lord Himself characterizes such a believer as someone who builds upon the solid rock with a strong foundation. Those who do not deceive themselves answering to being believers in that they know not or honor not God who is the father of believers. Meanwhile, the Lord only honors those who honor Him; others, He lightly esteems. While king Saul honored God, He honored him in return; by the time Saul failed to honor the father, God left him to his folly.

The Lord is demanding from us His honor for it is His right and entitlement. We are to ensure we honor and reverence Him at all times. If we fail to fear Him, we will do things like the horse that has no bridle. But when we fear our God, we will do only those things He prescribes and approves. When we do, He responds by ensuring we also are honored in our ways and lives. We will then enjoy life and life more abundantly.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for adopting me into your family. Let your love never depart from me, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Please help me to always honor you in all I do, in Jesus’ name. Whatsoever you will have me do per time, do let me know by direct instruction that I may not miss out on the purpose, in Jesus’ name. Let today be the beginning of special wellness in my life that I may also live so long in this life, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
