Focus: 1 Timothy 6:12 - KJV
12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
1 John 1:1-4
Our God is alive and dwells in eternity. He loves man so much that He wants man to be with Him in eternity; and therefore, gave man His only begotten son that as many as will believe in Him, will get hold of life in eternity, where God is. However, there are forces on earth that militate against the journey of man into eternal life. Those forces had held man from the time of Adam, up until the days of John the Baptist. Once John came forth, the spiritual atmosphere changed, as the kingdom of darkness realized that its time was up for the Messiah was about to show forth. Hence, the noose on man was tightened the more. This is why it is written that from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent takes it by force. Eternal life is found in the Kingdom, where God is domiciled.
To gain eternal life therefore, man is expected to grab and wrest it off the confines of the enemy. These confines are found in the deception of the devil with which he takes faith away from the hearts of men. His job is to attack the heart so that the knowledge of the truth is kept away and man is not able to gain freedom. This remains the state of affairs even upon the death and resurrection of Christ, such that, though many confess they believe in Christ, the truth of the Kingdom is not known fully to them, and therefore, their faith is lacking. Since faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, the enemy ensures they do not receive the word but a diluted version, thereby eroding their faith. As faith gets eroded, it becomes impossible to please the Lord. If we fail to please the Lord, eternal life becomes evasive, as it is with Him.
Beloved, the Lord is calling us to fight: our weapons are not canal. If we understand it, we must wrest the truth unto ourselves away from the manipulations of the enemy. Once we are able to decipher the truth, we take hold of, and live by it and it is our avenue to eternal life. The Kingdom is not in food or drink; neither is it in making illicit wealth or assuming we can continue in sin and have grace abound unto us. No! it is in making conscious effort to know Jesus, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; so that we may, in truth, rise with Him and be where He is in eternity. Only then can we be accomplished, and not in the life that has no bearing with the Kingdom.
SOLUTION: Let us be focused in our journey towards eternal life. Focus is in dwelling on the truth alone. Every other teaching that does not reckon with the teachings of Christ, should not be imbibed but set aside for the truth of the Gospel to rest in us.
Please pray: Father, I come to you on this last day in the month of May; please give me strength to get hold of eternal life, never to lose it ever, in Jesus’ name. Do not let the devil derail me from this pursuit, that I may dwell with you in eternity, in Jesus’ name. Whatever is on my path, that may affect my journey in this direction, please expunge therefrom O Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Kindly share with others if you have been blessed by this Guide. God bless you as you do so, in Jesus' name.
