Focus: Acts 16:14 - KJV
14. And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
Luke 24:36-45
When sermons are backed by God, the heart of the recipient is opened by Him to receive the truth being delivered for a change of life and living. But when the vessel delivering the sermon has no affinity with God himself, the tendency is for his actions to resort to just blowing the air. The link is for the preacher to be properly connected to God as his source, else he has nothing to deliver per se. it may not be right that when a multitude fails to accept, then the preacher is disconnected; for as long as there is at least one person whose heart is opened, it is enough proof of connection. They that refuse to yield may themselves be sons of perdition.
Peter had no oratory as a speaker; but when he preached with God’s backing, those who had assumed salvation would come through the laws of Moses had a rethink because God opened their hearts. The disciples themselves who did not really have understanding of the things Christ told them before His death, received understanding when He tied the nuts together after His resurrection. Then, their hearts were truly opened.
As Jesus, throughout His earthly ministry and before going to the cross, had link with the throne of heaven for instructions and directions, so does the Lord want us to be connected in order to be effective in what we do as the carriers of the Good News. Where connection is lost, we may study from now and forever, it will likely be of no effect on the hearts of the recipients of the sermons. Get connected; and where connection is lost, please reconnect.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for commissioning me to preach your word to the entire world. Please help me to be effective in this commission by opening the hearts of everyone that comes into contact with your word as I preach, in Jesus’ name. I do not want to labor in vain, Lord. Let the labor for souls yield bountiful harvest always to the glory of your name, in Jesus’ name. Please keep me connected to you for good results always, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
