Focus: Acts 8:30-31 - KJV
30. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31. And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
Romans 10:12-15
Sanctuaries are full of people who merely hear sermons but lack understanding of the character in the sermon. Many emerge from a regular Church service and are empty of the essence of the sermon preached; they only came around to belong in the crowd. Yet, the essence of fellowship is that we may know the more the Lord and the author/finisher of our faith so that we may be strengthened thereby. The word, and indeed the entire scripture is something that is never deeply understood by carrying to read literarily. The letter kills. It tends to confusion. But there is a Spirit in it that gives light to the simple.
The Eunuch of Ethiopia was not Israeli but was just coming out of “Church service” in a manner of speaking. He had listened to the homily and was returning. He picked up the “Bible” to check the words he heard out but was drawn into confusion. Philip was sent by the Holy Spirit to assist him. Until Philip did, his confusion remained. But when he was guided by Philip, the eye of his understanding was enlightened and he then believed, in the right sense of the word, and received salvation.
The Lord is asking that we return to true Bible study and house cells to guide many into truly believing in the doctrine of Christ. But unless you are sent, please do not take up the role of guiding others. No one can give what he does not have. By going to guide without being sent, many have introduced great heresies into the body and all manner of gibberish is now in the public that is untrue of our God. If you are sent, please do not hesitate to take up the gauntlet like Philip, guiding many into the truth that sets free. This is the essence of our calling: that we may guide others unto the truth. Start today.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for the treasure of knowing your word to an extent. Please reveal yourself the more unto me through your word, that I may not fail you. Help me to guide many others who are at the valley of decision and crossroads because they are yet to be enlightened in your word. Let therefore the words of my mouth, and the meditation of the hearts of the recipients on it, be ever acceptable unto you, our Lord and God, in Jesus’ name.
