Greater Righteousness In Offspring

Focus: 1 Samuel 24:17 - KJV

17. And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.

1 Samuel 24:1-18

When a son has greater righteousness in himself than the father, the father ought to acknowledge it and honor the son. It is a terrible thing for a father to seek to kill his “son” because the Lord appears to have favored the son more than the father. Every father that does such is simply heinous and not worthy of the Lord.

God showed to Eli that He preferred Samuel to himself. Eli was not moved to kill Samuel but took care of him still. Saul knew and took benefit of God long before David showed up. Even though David subsumed himself under Saul, the latter was discontent about the rising profile of David and would rather kill him. It is wicked to kill but more righteous to preserve life. David, in Saul’s pursuit to kill him, had occasion to kill Saul in his vulnerability but would not because the righteousness of God was in him.

The Lord is saying to us that all those who will recognize that vengeance belongs to God and will not avenge themselves over their assailant fathers who may be enthralled against them, are to be adjudged more righteous than such fathers, and should never join the rank of the wicked fathers for there is a greater reward for righteousness than for the wicked. Let the wicked fathers amend their ways and embrace their righteous sons like Saul attempted to do with David, but this time, genuinely and plain heartedly.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the fathers of faith you have appointed unto us. Please help them to be righteous indeed and help us also never to grow into wicked fathers in Jesus’ name. Let every tormented son receive succor from you today, even as you melt the hearts of the grieving fathers, in Jesus’ name. Let there be a supernatural turnaround for better in all our affairs from now on, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
