Great Journey Ahead

Focus: 1 Kings 19:7 - KJV

7. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

1 Kings 19:1-8

Many times, in the life of a soldier of the cross, discouragements arise in his journey with the Lord. Some get so discouraged because of the lies sowed to others about them which they are not able to defend; some others have had to face gang-ups that are really life-threatening. Yet, our God is a man of war. He created us for a purpose and until we fulfil the same, no devil, death or illness is permitted to mess with us. The Lord has His ways of encouraging them that belong to Him, to ensure they meet up with destiny fulfilment.

So was the case with Elijah when the queen, Jezebel threatened him with death for rising up for the course of the Lord. The man of God became so disenchanted and preferred suicide. But God had for him a different arrangement. Hence, God sent to him an angel to feed him twice because there was yet a great journey ahead of him. The Bible confirmed that by two quick meals, the man contemplating suicide was strengthened for a forty-day journey without food.

God’s word of encouragement to us today is that there is still so much for us to do before fulfilling destiny. Hence, there is no reason to be discouraged or be in any form of despair. For greater is He that is in us, than they that be in the world. God is set to strengthen us for the journey ahead for it is great and, in the end, He will surely make our enemies our footstool if we will repose confidence in the Lord. We however, need more of the bread of life for the desired strength.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for your faithfulness as my Commander, protecting me all the way from the fangs of wickedness. Please feed me with the bread of heaven for strength against all opposition, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Do not let the enemy prevail in my affairs; no matter the situation, do help me to finish strong and well to the glory of your name in Jesus’ name. Let this day be a day for me to overcome the enemy and His activities, in Jesus’ mighty name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
