Godliness profits

Focus: 1 Timothy 4:8 – KJV

8. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Acts 9:36-41

One of the recommendations of health specialists for human health is bodily exercise and the minimum is walking to assist the nerves. It is good to exercise. But far more profiting than that is godliness. To be godly is to first accept the sacrifice of Christ done to reconcile us unto God. After the first step, godliness is about obedience to the commands of God. One great way to show this is by operating in the Great Commission which is to “Go” into all the world and preach the Gospel. No one goes into all the world and live a sedentary life. Hence, physical exercise is first taken care of while obeying that command. Additionally, all spiritual blessings are added to the one who obeys. As he goes, not only is health added to him but he is made health giver to others. Not only has he got life in the physical but is guaranteed life eternally. Apostle Peter was a mere fisherman when he met the Christ. When he agreed to Go, he became a fisher of men. The one who had only a few friends to fish with now became the commander of thousands in the fold. Not only that, he was never recorded to be sick. Indeed his shadow was healing others. Greater still, when a believer of value died, he was brought to pray and through him, virtue was released to bring her back to life. Certainly, he is one of those we hope to see on the last day shining in eternity like the sun.

We all can achieve greater than Peter if we will accept to be godly in all things. Our godliness must lead us into embracing the ministry of reconciliation which makes us passionate for souls. When this is found in us, the Spirit that quickens will then come and do to us more than He did to Peter. The field is large and wide. The harvest is ripe and plenty waiting for the laborers. Will you be counted amongst the godly?

SOLUTION: Get out of your comfort zone. Live life in health and true wealth by obeying the commands of God. Learn of the Lord to know Him and understand His leadings. You will never regret.

May the Lord bear us up in His hands and sustain us in health and well-being in Jesus name. May He put us to greater use for His Kingdom than all that came before us in the name of Jesus Christ. It is time to Go.
