Focus: Hebrews 13:20-21 - KJV
20. Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21. Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
2 Thessalonians 2:15-17
Our God is one who detests unseriousness. Whilst He related with the man Abraham and the same did not yet understand that his friend has no stomach for waywardness and therefore took a nephew with himself in abeyance of the direct instruction he received from the Lord, Abraham was left to his folly to learn betrayal from Lot whom he loved and the basis of his disobedience. And then, the Lord redirected him to walk before God and be perfect. Perfection of Abraham was what God wanted of him to be able to walk together then; the same perfection He seeks of us today. But are we perfect? If not, how can we be perfect to walk with Him?
The time of Abraham was the time of the flesh. But, because Abraham strived albeit carnally to walk in perfection before God, he had so much benefit from the Lord who counted his obedience, even in the flesh, as righteousness. It is a better day than the days of Abraham. Now we have help to be perfect. The Lord Himself has decided by His Spirit to work in the believer the things that are pleasing in His sight, through the example and sacrifice of Christ who has given to us the Holy Spirit to teach us all things and bring to our remembrance the things that Christ taught us.
The Lord wants us to know that if we submit to His Spirit, we have the opportunity to walk before God and be perfect. The benefit of that is that we abide under the shadow of the Almighty. There, we have comfort, joy, affluence, peace and above it all, we enjoy the love of God. The Lord warns that if we stray from walking before Him for lack of perfection, we would be the ones to forfeit His cover and the benefits thereat. Not to so forfeit it, we are to ensure we hearken to the Holy Spirit, our current teacher always. By doing so, we start to do that which is well-pleasing in God’s sight and be truly called His sons, for it is as many as are led by His Spirit that are His sons.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for the guidance of your Spirit that I enjoy. Do please continue to work in me that I may become truly perfect in every good work, in Jesus’ name. Whenever I appear to be straying from the leading of your Spirit, kindly use your comforting rod and staff to nudge me back in line, dear Lord in Jesus’ name. This very day, let the glaring benefits of abiding under your shadow manifest in my life for all to see and glorify your name, in Jesus’ name. I seek to be acknowledged in this life as your son as your Spirit leads me: please bring it to bear, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
