Focus: Isaiah 61:8-9 - KJV

8. For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. 9. And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.

Isaiah 59:14-18

Judgment is procured with a view to instilling justice. Unfortunately, in the affairs of men, when judgment is put forth, it is given the coloration of justice without it necessarily being justice in any sense. It may not be the fault of the Judge since he was not a witness to the circumstance he is called to judge. When men concoct evidence and suborn witnesses, the unsuspecting Judge believes them thinking he has rendered justice, but in the end, puts the aggressor in a better stead, who ought to have been put in punishment. However, God sees and ensures justice in the matter of oppression.

Hagar was an unfortunate Egyptian who perhaps was given to Abraham in Gerar by Abimelech as a woman-slave. And, because of the extent of civilization at the time, slaves had no right. But by the position of God which is constant, we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. Sarah had caused Abraham to “rape” Hagar and the latter had found she was in the family way. Then her madam, Sarah was despised in her eyes for it, perhaps because it had become difficult for her to find love in possibly another suitor slave who wanted her before the Abrahamic encounter. Suddenly she was tormented sore and thrown out. But God of justice found her and gave her succor.

There are times we feel we have superiority over people and mess them up without recompense. God sees and will bring justice to bear. Ahab and Jezebel, killed Naboth on trumped up charges and believed they got away with it. But God judged them and gave Naboth justice. The same God is saying to us today never to assume He would not recompense those who hurt us or leave us without justice when we hurt others. It is better to be on the side of the Lord in good doing, so that when judgment comes, justice will be brought to bear in our matter and in our favor.

Please pray:

I appreciate you Lord for being a just Judge. Thank you for your mercy that endures forever. Please, in your judgment remember mercy. For if you mark our iniquities, we are not able to stand your judgment. We therefore ask that you please forgive us and not chastise us in your hot displeasure for the bad things we had done to our neighbors, in Jesus’ name. From this day, make us holy indeed that we may never hurt anyone ever again so that you may be found just, when you judge our matters and favor us, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
