Focus: 2 Thessalonians 2:14 - KJV
14. Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
The commissioning of Christ for all those who believe, is that we may take the good news to others so that many more may be called into the fold through the Gospel that we preach, by which they also may obtain the same glory of Christ that we have in redemption. When we preach the true Gospel, the effect on unbelievers is highly effective and commendable to the glorifying of the Lord Himself.
Peter stood to preach to a crowd, for the first time of his life and ministry and three thousand people were added to the fold because he gave the true Gospel, undiluted to them. They obtained the glory of Christ such that when Peter was imprisoned, they stood in the gap praying for God’s intervention. The manner of things being disseminated as the Gospel today, in many places, is suspect. Truth is, the Gospel is the truth of the word of God and God. When there is a little dilution, it becomes a lie and God is not in it. No wonder Paul admonished Timothy to study to show himself approved of God. Unless we know the Gospel, we cannot be effective in the dissemination thereof for the obtaining of the glory of Christ.
The mind of God is that we return to the basics. There are now too many ill-informed ‘believers’ who lack the knowledge and understanding of that which was offered them. When these ones joined the fray of preachers, so much dilution is carried through thereby becoming no longer the Gospel, but a lie. Since God cannot lie, He is not found in their activities and it appears the Gospel of the kingdom which is found in righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, is lacking in all of these.
Please pray:
Father, thank you for your Holy Spirit whom you gave to teach us all things and remind us of the things you taught us. Please from today, let the Holy Spirit take over all our hearts as believers to convict us in the truth of your word and always show us when a lie is introduced, in Jesus’ name. Please expose the activities of the enemy particularly in the areas of sowing lies in the hearts of men by adulterating the truth of your word, in Jesus’ name. Please draw more men unto yourself through the preaching of the Gospel from this day on, in Jesus’ name.
