Focus: Philippians 1:11 - KJV

11. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:9-11

Christ is the example believers are called to emulate. From the very beginning until Christ, there is none other viewed or commended as righteous, but Him. Every other person had no righteousness in themselves as they did not so fully know God to please Him. Hence, it is only by Jesus Christ that we are able to bear fruits of righteousness. Not only did He lead a righteous life, He taught us how to be righteous and bear the fruit of righteousness, also. By His teachings, the way to bearing the fruits of righteousness is love. It is only when we show love that we are righteous. Every other thing is additional. Love is the main thrust of righteousness.

Adam was not righteous in that he did not love God enough to obey His command to the end. Abraham, the father of faith was not righteous but because he obeyed God to relocate from his domicile to a different place, it was accounted unto him as righteousness. Of course, not even Moses was righteous; for the accuser of the brethren had enough reasons to contest for his body when it was to be taken to the Lord. There was no other prophet that existed and could be judged righteous. Hence, only Christ, the righteous one, has the capability to fill us with the fruits of righteousness, that God may be praised in our lives.

The Lord needs us to understand that if we must bear righteous fruits, we need to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Whatever He does not approve is not righteous and only what He approves is tolerable unto God. Anything outside this is done in unrighteousness. Yet, God wants us to bear the fruits of righteousness, to the glory of His name. Let us therefore, be intentional from today, in looking to Jesus for the ability to bear the fruits of righteousness. Let us not forget that He said without Him, we can do nothing good.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for all that you do in loving me to this day. I know your love for me is everlasting. Please help me to reciprocate your love by loading in me your Spirit of wisdom that I may be filled with the fruits of righteousness and be pleasing to you in all matters, in Jesus’ name. Let the fruits of righteousness protruding from my person become practical example unto many others of how to lead a life pleasing unto you, in Jesus’ name. Let this day be a day to cherish for a long time in my life, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
