Focus: 1 John 5:4 - KJV
4. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:1-8
Every time we speak about faith, it simply refers to the confidence we have in our God through what we have heard, or know of Him. If we stay confident in the position of God, no lie of the world or fear emanating therefrom ought to hurt or cause us to fall in any way. Those who have confidence in God may face threats from the world but cannot be overcome of the world. Rather, when they refuse to lose focus, the Lord emboldens them to overcome the world.
This is better enunciated using Peter’s encounter with Christ when he saw Jesus walking on water, and asked to join Him. Peter’s request emanated from the faith he had in the Lord and that confidence caused him to walk, like Christ walked. However, when his faith waned, he began to sink. But as soon as he realized his folly, he cried to the one in whom he had faith, and the same pulled him up such that, together they walked to the boat, thereby overcoming the world that would have caused him to sink.
There is a user of this devotional, today, the Lord wants the same to turn his focus back to the one in whom he believes. For as long as the same believes in the Lord, the Lord promises to rescue him from his current sinking state and bring him back to operating the miraculous. The Lord says, to encourage us, never to lose faith in Him for when we do, we call Him a liar. That is very ludicrous a situation that causes the enemy to overtake the believer. Have and keep a strong faith in God and you will surely overcome the world and all that it hauls against you.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for the grace to know and repose confidence in you. Please help me to keep faith in you to the very end, in Jesus’ name. I know I cannot do this by myself but by the help of your Spirit: please use your Spirit to always keep me in check when it appears I want to shake in faith, in Jesus’ name. Let this day bring me back into operating in the miraculous out of where I may have sunk, in Jesus’ name.
