Examine Yourself

Focus: 2 Corinthians 13:5 - KJV

5. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

2 Corinthians 13:1-6

The Lord enjoins us to judge ourselves and adjust so that we do not enter into judgment. The judgment here is self-judgment as we are not to judge others. In the same manner, God wants us to check ourselves if we are in the faith. There is a faith that we inherited from the actions of the Lord Jesus Christ based on the promises of the Almighty God. Everyone who confesses Jesus as Lord and Savior bears the Christ in himself. That is the faith we carry in God. If therefore there be any who claims to be of Christ but have not Christ formed in himself, the same has denied the faith and is just a reprobate. Having Christ formed in us is another way of saying we live our lives by Christ. Living our lives by Christ is to follow His example and leading. Unless this is evident in us, we are not in the faith and more or less reprobates. There is no vacuum in the spirit realm. If Christ does not dwell in a person, another being dwells in him and he is bound to live by the directives of that being in him.

We owe it to God who purchased us with the blood of Jesus to allow Christ to dwell in us by all means. If we will therefore examine ourselves today, we may be able to adjust from shutting out the Christ to giving Him a pride of place in our beings. The place to start is to consider the manner of words we have been speaking in recent times: do they glorify the Lord? Our actions and ways: is Christ proud of them? If the answers to these questions are in the affirmative, then the counsel is ‘please keep up the faith’. If, however it is in the negative, please adjust urgently so as not to be taken to be reprobate.

SOLUTION: Ensure you block your heart from being infiltrated by the enemy through evil thoughts. Always check how you are doing in the faith by checking the fruit of your words and actions. Adjust where necessary.

The Lord will make us victorious in all things in Jesus’ name. He will keep us in check and in Him as He continues to dwell in us and keep us in the faith in Jesus’ name. By the help of the Lord, nothing shall separate anyone of us from the love of Christ in Jesus’ name.
