Do Justice, Not Sacrifice

Writer: Jide OlaoreJide Olaore

Focus: Proverbs 21:3 - KJV

3. To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

1 Samuel 15:16-22

Happy New Month of March to all users of this devotional. We have confidence in God to say to us all that the blessings of the Lord that makes rich and adds no sorrow shall be ours throughout this month, in Jesus’ name. In this new month, it is important for us to realize that, for the blessings of God to add no sorrow, we ought to do justice in all our ways. Justice, in this light, simply is obedience to the totality of God’s instruction, leaving no stone unturned. When we fail to do so and decide to give sacrifice instead, we make it appear like God desires a bribe to overlook our misdeeds. The righteous God cannot be corrupted.

King Saul was a man of no consequence when the Lord picked and elevated him as number one man in Israel. At the time he was so picked, he knew in himself that he had no credible opinion in the wake of things. Nonetheless, no sooner was he made king that he started to decide matters based on his personal opinion as against the direct instruction of God. The Lord had blessed him, but he became opinionated enough to dilute God’s instruction, and received word from the Lord not to do so. Unfortunately, it was rather late in the day to forestall sorrow being added into the blessings he had.

In this month therefore, God wants us to abide in His instruction and fulfil the same, based on His precepts and lines. Our compliance can only increase our blessedness and that is the target of God. Let us therefore be intentional this month not to dilute the words or instruction of our God with our own supposed intelligent opinion. No matter how intelligent we may think we are, we lack wisdom when pitched alongside our God, except that which He releases to us.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for your kindness unto me and your blessings over my life and family. I ask for your grace to be fully obedient unto you in all matters, not to infuse my opinion into that which you direct, in Jesus’ name. Let your blessings for my greatness in life be multiplied unto me and let no sorrow find its way into it, in Jesus’ name. Let this new month be a month to celebrate fully dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
