Do God’s Will

Focus: John 6:38 - KJV

38. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

John 5:30; John 4:34

Self-centeredness is one of the banes of man if not the chief of it. There is no one that is brought to earth without a purpose. Unfortunately, most men are not able to fulfil their purpose on earth because they are deceived to stray from that for which they were raised up and be pursuing something else which pertains to their self-aggrandizement and thereby fail the one who brought them forth. There are reasons children are sent to school: many of them get there to focus on other things ranging from cultism, gangsterism, even sports and other curricula as against the intention of the parents. No parent paying the fee for such a child is contented to learn that the child has strayed from the original purpose. The parent seeks to develop his child into a professional of sort and not a criminal. The same is the mind of God towards us. What He wills, He would love to see in us.

The first Adam was created for a purpose: to occupy the earth and take dominion thereof, replenishing it. Unfortunately, his wife was deceived and he also hinged unto the deceiving words to forsake the purpose for which he was created by losing the Spirit that would have helped bring that purpose to fruition. When the second Adam came, all attempts to deceive Him and make Him abdicate the will and purpose of God failed because He knew why He came was to fulfil the will of the father and not His own. Hence, every bit of His journey on earth, He took instruction from the father and performed it. Even when it became heavy to go to the last bit of the father’s will which was to bear the sin of man upon Himself and carry it to the cross, He pleaded the father to shelve that part but would not deviate from the father’s will because of Himself. He subsumed His will to that of the father and He triumphed.

The way to triumph on earth is to put aside our self-will and take on the will of God from the beginning to the end. The judgment of many have been beclouded by self-will and they are now so blind and deaf to the position of God in their affairs. As Christ has done the will of the Father, He left us with His own example that we may also finish well. Unfortunately, rather than follow the steps of Christ, many are still being deceived and are self-centered, abdicating purpose. God sees this situation and still seeks whom to send asking, “who will go for us”. This is despite the fact that the Holy Spirit has been sent to work through believers to ransom men from the grip of the enemy by revealing to them Christ. Rather than revealing Christ, “believers” are carrying out their own will to fill their stomach. Whither then lie their believe and the instruction of Christ to go into all the world and make disciples of men?

SOLUTION: Like Paul, please put aside every weight and those things that prevent you from doing the will of God. The will of God is first for you to know Him, and introduce Him to many others so that together, we can by His Spirit lead righteous lives and drive riotous living out of the world, greatly.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for the purpose for which He has brought you forth on earth

·      Ask God to help you in identifying His will and purpose for your life, so that like Christ, you will do nothing except that which He wills

·      Ask God to make you His messenger for the transformation of mankind in your generation, through the instrumentality of the Gospel

·      Ask God to please fortify you against the enemy’s deception and self-centeredness that you may live the rest of your life in and for Him

·      Ask for your daily bread for today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
