Christ’s Mission On Earth

Focus: Luke 19:10-11 - KJV

10. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. 11. And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

Luke 15:3-7

The notion of the Messiah is one that the nation Israel clings to as the promise that emanates from God. But their understanding of the traits and purpose of the same has been very wrong and far from the mind of God. The same is true of the minds of most people today, who believe they are holier than the plan God has put together for their salvation. Hence, when the Messiah did come, they sought Him to relate with the supposed rulers of the way of worship they had erected for God. Unfortunately, even though these people professed God with their mouths, their hearts were far away from God. Yet, hypocritical as they were, they never admitted any wrongdoing. Therefore, by their thoughts and their belief, they were not sinners but people of God; meanwhile they see many others as sinners and people prepared for hell.

Ironically, when they saw the Messiah dining and wining with those they had condemned, they were mesmerized and assumed He was fake. Rather than contend with them, the Lord only made clear His purpose: to seek them who are lost and bring them to redemption. In other words, those who are on a path to destruction but are there because they were led astray, are those that deserve redemption and not those who are on the path willy nilly. No wonder the word of God says there is a way that seems right unto a man but the end thereof is the way of death. This simply points to the fact that there are people whose minds are made up on the way they would rather go and no matter what you tell them, since they do not consider themselves lost, they would not change course.

The Lord is saying to us today that the maximum we can do for some people whose minds are made up not to follow the way of the cross is to pray for them. Whether we want to believe it or not, they are stone hearted and it is not for them that the Messiah came. Just look at it: even though they had the Messiah with them, they were not concerned about the things of the Kingdom but rested upon the folly they were hanging on to, just like someone coming down a high mountain holding a light thread for safety. When the thread breaks, which will eventually happen, the fall will be catastrophic. So, since we do not know the path of life of our own accord, it is important we listen to the Author of Life and allow Him to ransom us. It is those who ordinarily do not know the path of life that are presumed lost, for whom the Lord has come. As against the goat, the sheep is obedient, gentle and would yield to the Shepherd. The lost sheep will yield to the good Shepherd and not antagonize Him, in any way.

SOLUTION: Yield yourself unto God through Christ and stop assuming you can navigate the Sea of life or be led by some other person who himself is lost. The compass to a successful journey in life is faith in Jesus Christ. Yield to Him as His sheep.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God the Great Shepherd for appointing unto you Christ, the good Shepherd

·      Ask God to please take over your life and from hence, lead you into green pastures as well as to the still waters

·      Ask God to please protect you from the evil hawks who seek to take the Shepherd away from you by their wicked persuasion

·      Ask God to please remain with you by His Spirit that you may evermore dine and wine with Him

·      Ask God for your daily bread today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
