Focus: Hebrews 9:24 - KJV
24. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Hebrews 7:20-28
When the Lord was laying the foundation of the Church as the vehicle through which the world would be turned to salvation, He gave to Moses the idea of priesthood, having revealed to Him by His Spirit, the priesthood of Melchizedek to whom Abraham gave a tithe of his spoils. Hence, Moses made the descendants of Levi priests to present on behalf of the people, sacrifices unto God. So, the priest was seen as the one with access to God. That was why, in the construction of the tabernacle and eventually the Temple, a portion was made and called the holy of holies where no other person was allowed into, except the priest, for it was the place of God’s presence. When eventually Christ came, died and rose to live, never to die again, He presented Himself to the father in heaven upon His ascension, such that, He being a priest in the order of Melchizedek, (as against the Levitical priests who were raised based on oath, conscious of susceptibility to sin and first offering for themselves before going in for the people,) is before the Father as of right, being righteous through and through, and interceding for men, particularly the believers.
If only we appreciate the place of the believer based on the grace we have in the Lord Jesus; if only our eyes of enlightenment be opened to see what we stand in and where we belong in the order of things in heaven by that which Christ has done! In the former order, the Levitical priest stood on earth, in a place built with hands, to attempt to make a presentation on behalf of the congregants and may be struck dead by the devil if he himself is not worthy of the Lord’s presence. By the current state of affairs, through the presence of Jesus before the father in heaven, it is now possible for us as royal priests to present our own bodies by ourselves, a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, without having to wait on any man priest who may be filthier than ourselves. Now that we are in a new High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is constantly before the father, we have access to the father ourselves through Him, and we can have our cases presented to the father unhindered.
The Lord is saying to us today, that for as long as we remain a holy nation and operate in the Lord Jesus Christ, our causes and matters are always before the Lord, thereby making it unnecessary for us to be anxious for anything. The beauty of this is that, when we err and the enemy comes seeking to mess us up, the Lord Jesus Christ’s presence is to intercede on our behalf. We then must realize ourselves that we have been positioned through the priesthood of Christ, and take a full benefit of it.
SOLUTION: Let us be conscious of the gains in being in Christ Jesus and use the opportunity to serve Him, as we ought to, by His command. A refusal to do as Christ says is a dangerous development that may cause a slide. Backsliding leads to a fall. Those who fall out of Christ forfeit the grace to present themselves a living sacrifice as they, through unholiness, fail to remain royal priests and will no longer be acceptable in God’s presence. Be intentional to protect your priesthood to the end, then you will remain in Christ.
Please pray:
My father and my God, I thank you for accepting me as a living sacrifice before you. Thank you for not letting the enemy cause me to rot in filth by rescuing me in your mercy and power. Please keep me in you so that I may always have access to the throne of grace, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. By reason of my access, I present my requests before you today, please daddy, grant me peace like a river and let my joy overflow this day, better than ever, in Jesus’ name. Please keep the devil and his hatred away from me and my family from this day and ever more so that your name may continually be glorified in my affairs, in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name
