Beholding God’s Glory

Focus: 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 - KJV

17. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:45-50

The glory of the Lord is brighter than the sun. When there was an eclipse on earth, scientists advised not to view the sun directly as it will be dangerous to the viewer’s eyes. Viewing the glory of God is not just dangerous, it is said that anyone who views it would not live. That is how powerful the glory is. When Moses sought to see the Lord, , the Lord had to hide him in a cleft, cover his face from viewing directly His glory and allowed him to see only the backside to preserve him from death. For seeing the backside only, Moses’ face shone itself like a sun. What if he had seen the full glory? The children of Israel could not view the face of Moses which was only reflecting the backside of the glory of God.

But the mind of God is that we should be like He is. Hence, unlike Moses’ experience, what the sacrifice of Christ has done for us is to bring us back to turf where we can behold the glory of our Lord directly and yet live. Beyond this, the same glory which the father bears, which is equally the glory of the Lord Jesus, is preserved for every believer because when we meet with Him, we shall be like He is. That will be a phenomenal spectacle.

The Lord is reminding us today that whatever we may be going through currently on this side of eternity can never be compared to the glory ahead waiting for us. In other words, we ought to be focused more on the glory ahead and not allow the things of this world and the activities of men to dissuade us from the beauty that awaits us. For clarity, God is saying what shall it profit any of us to gain the whole world and the seeming beauty in it, and then forfeit the glory which God Himself wants to share with us? No devil or man of sin can behold the glory we speak of or bear it. It will be a great appearance for believers.

SOLUTION: Do everything within your means to sustain your salvation so that your name will be retained in the Book of Life. This you do when you live your life by Christ. That is to say, by obeying His commands.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for counting you among His family since you got born again

·      Please ask God to retain your name in His Book of Life, never to blot it out

·      Tell the Lord to preserve you for His glory in the end as you do not want to encounter shame ever

·      Please put your relatives, friends and enemies in prayers that the Lord will make them see the light and become candidates for His glory too

·      Ask God for your daily bread today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
