Focus: Colossians 1:6 - KJV
6. Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
John 15:5-16
By the injunction of Christ, the end would not come until the Gospel has been preached all over the world. But what is the Gospel? The Gospel is the good news about the coming of Christ to amend the past of man and make mankind realize the person of God, by abiding in Christ. Abiding in Him is staying in His doctrines and values to do as He did and obey that which He commands. It is when we abide in Him that we can yield fruit fit for the Kingdom of God. In testifying about Jesus Christ, the Father said He is His beloved son in whom He is well pleased. So, everyone that abides in Him and does what He commands, like Him, becomes well pleasing unto God the father, because he starts to bring forth fruit that is not in any way different from the fruit Jesus bore, that pleased the father.
The world has received the Gospel without fully accepting it, like the Lord would have loved. Nonetheless, those who receive and accept it indeed, have started to bring forth fruit that shows repentance. The morbidity in the way the Gospel is received today as against the way it was received in the days of the early disciples, is borne out of the dilution of the Gospel with other ill-doctrines that appear to take away the power embedded in the Gospel itself. As it was received in the days of old, the power in it made them bring forth fruit. Unfortunately, what many take about today which they call Gospel but is not, has caused many to claim to receive but bring forth not the fruit that befits the Vine who is Jesus Christ.
The Lord is asking that we return to the Gospel of Christ and be separate from the adulteration brought by the devil. Adulteration comes when we rely on doctrines outside of Christ albeit obtained from the Bible. It is not difficult to set time apart to dissect with a view to understanding the Gospel of Christ. It is when we know it, and become fruitful by it, that we can draw others to it and have them become fruitful also. There is no giving what we do not have. The bane of the current situation is about sending out those who are ignorant of the core of the teachings of the Gospel, to teach others about it. As they did not know, their going to teach others then amounted to the blind leading the blind and has done more damage to the body than good.
SOLUTION: Paul’s instruction to study to show ‘yourselves’ approved unto God, ‘workmen’ rightly dividing the words of truth is pivotal to the spread of the Gospel. Let us set time aside to study and understand the Gospel so that we can give the truth to others.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for counting you worthy of being the carrier of His Gospel to the world
· Ask God to please invest more in teachers that would impact the truth of the Gospel into everyone that is preached to, starting from yourself
· Ask God to please make your heart the good soil that will accommodate the truth of the Gospel and not the farce that many are sharing all around, which antagonizes it
· Pray that by your involvement, many will be genuinely drawn away from darkness into the marvelous light of God
· Ask for your daily bread today
