Be Temperate In All Things

Focus: 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 - KJV

24. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

Philippians 3:4-14

Happy New Month beloved. May the Lord make this month an easy one for us all to conquer in Jesus’ name. The life of man on earth is likened by Apostle Paul to a race and at times to a fight/war. The one participating in the race must essentially take his mind off things that do not add value to the outcome of the race, if he must be victorious in it. For instance, it is not unlikely that some onlookers who are not particular about a trophy, may form themselves into distraction, casting dirt or mud on the athlete with a view to making him lose concentration. It is for the athlete to focus on the race and take his mind off the distraction for him to duly breast the tape of victory.

Apostle Paul made himself an example. In his mind, when he operated by the law of Moses, he was blameless. Upon finding the better covenant and embracing it, he cast away all that he assumed he gained under the law to be able to attain perfection in Christ. And, since that became his goal, he could not be bothered by the distraction brought his way as to whether he ought not to be higher than the new found love of his. He rather focused on the goal to attain the height of the high calling in Christ by knowing him whom he had professed. He also showed that he was not setting distraction aside for nothing since there is reward for that which he had embraced.

Even in our lives today, there are so many things prepared by the enemy to distract us from the goal that the Lord has set before us. There are those who will want to draw us into contention as per doctrines and other less important issues which do not affect the position of God that is very clear in Christ Jesus. There are those who will put before us negative words to engender similar thoughts in us so as to dissuade us from being focused on the goal ahead. To be victorious to the end, we are enjoined to be temperate in all things, like brother Paul. Let no emotion as per status, achievement or height defeat our thrust towards the mark of the high calling in Christ. Instead, we are to cast aside every such weight and strive for mastery. Only then are we able to obtain the price as victors.

SOLUTION: Distraction is trap of the enemy to derail the believer. Do not be distracted from the purpose for which you entered the Kingdom race. Put in more effort by the day. Never relent in your pursuit, no matter what.

Please pray:

·      Give God praise, honor and adoration for making you to be alive on the first day of the sixth month

·      Ask God to please, by His mercy and because of the blood that was shed by the Lord Jesus Christ, grant you a clean slate in your relationship with Him that as you approach Him, you will be seen in the purest form

·      Pray that the Lord releases upon you the grace to be meek and temperate in all that you do so that you do not derail in the journey to eternity

·      Ask the Lord to remove every naughty trap in your way that are kept there with a view to derailing you

·      Ask God to fortify you on all sides and not withhold from you your daily bread at any point in this new month.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
