Focus: Psalms 85:7 - KJV
7. Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
2 Chronicles 7:12-14
The state of the world today suggests that something is terribly wrong and the Lord has turned away from mankind, just like in the days of Noah, or even worse. The Noah episode suggests however that by covenant, God will not destroy the earth with water, in one fell swoop, again. Hence, whenever mankind sees there is a separation from God which in turn brings calamity, there is a window for restoration. Such window is premised upon the mercy of God, which mercy is available, new every morning, but only accessible based on principles. In the days of Ahab king of Israel, the Lord had separated Himself from Israel to the extent that there was no rain for three and a half years because the people preferred to worship a nonexistent Baal. The resultant draught was so excruciating that cannibalism was setting in. Then came Elijah who brought the people to their knees before God on Mt. Carmel. When they proclaimed God as God, they found mercy and were restored.
The situation on earth appears today to be worse than what Elijah needed to restore people unto God for. Now, what people worship is worse than nonexistent Baal. There is nothing people do not do to get money – from ritual killings to organ trafficking to kidnapping to what have you, the list is endless. But they all have their backs turned on God. Those who claim to know God are not patient enough to seek Him genuinely. They seek Him for what they want and not necessarily because they love and adore Him. So, the gap between them and God remains very wide and almost unscalable. However, if people will, like Solomon prescribed and the Lord accepted, humble themselves before God to show that they are already at their wits’ end, and genuinely seek the Lord, He would respond and show mercy just like He did at the time of Ahab and Elijah when He mercifully sent rain to the land, to terminate draught.
Beloved, the mercy of God terminates draught, no matter the length of time it has been. What the earth requires at this time is the mercy of God. Everyone has put to action all they think they know and the result has been lack of response from the Lord, even though some still prophesy things as if the Lord has responded. The ransom which mankind needs is in humbling ourselves to show understanding of our errors of time past, that where our wits have ended, the Lord may pick us up by His mercy. Pretending to have a good life under a nonexistent Baal is a way to perpetuate the suffering of the day. The sooner we cry unto the Lord in repentance, the better for us.
SOLUTION: The Lord is merciful and He is ready to show it, if we will humble ourselves before Him and ask for His help. Cry to Him today and see the salvation of our God.
Please pray: Dear Lord, we know we have erred so badly against you; please forgive us today in Jesus’ name. On behalf of ourselves and all that dwell in our countries, please let your mercy prevail over judgment in Jesus’ name. Please put an end to the resultant effect of our collective errors in Jesus’ name. Let your mercy bring back surplus in our territory even as you restore us to your love fully in the name of Jesus.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
