Focus: Proverbs 18:10 - KJV
10. The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
2 Samuel 22:1-10
Just like that, the first quarter of the new year ends today. Glory be to God for keeping us till now. May His name be praised forever. But what is in a name? There are names that people will hear and hiss, while there are names that will cause doors to open when mentioned. The Lord has given unto Christ a name above every other name. This means, no matter how highly a name may be, it is subservient to the name of Jesus. Some names are of the region of darkness and have effect thereat. But the one whose name we speak of, has darkness under His feet. Hence, those who take cover in the name of the Lord can never be upturned. David is a good example. He called the name of the Lord and outlived his powerful king that assailed him without him lifting a finger to battle the king. Indeed, God, whose name is a strong tower, gave him rest on all sides, for hiding in His name.
Today, the Lord wants us to know that, like He saw the activities of Saul against David, He is aware of the actions of those warring against us. What He wants us to do is to be like David by calling upon His name and leaving the rest of the battle to Him. He made His name known to Moses and soon, the king of Egypt was begging him to pray for him. As many as will hide in the name of the Lord, which is a strong tower, will soon have their enemies pleading with them for assistance. Incidentally, only those who are pleasing to God can properly invoke His name and see the result thereof. All those who live in darkness operate beneath the feet of the one whose name is a strong tower and therefore, He does not really hear them. The only prayer He is likely to hear from such will be the prayers of repentance, for that lifts them out of darkness to a level where they become audible to God.
SOLUTION: The Lord wants to make His name available to you for your safety, provision and lifting. It is only that you must be one after God’s heart to be a recipient of such grace. No pretender can enjoy the grace. Only genuine believers do. Are you a true believer?
Please pray:
· Thank God for conquering the first quarter of the year for you and your family such that you have not been devastated by the enemy
· Ask God to please make His name sweet on your lips so that you may see the effect of hiding in the name of the Lord from now on.
· Tell God to please, by His name give you victory over all that are against your wellbeing, like He did for David
· Ask Him to take you to that throne that you have been deprived of for long because of the activities of the enemy
· Let God know what heavenly provision you require at this juncture in your life.
