An Apostolic Description:

1. Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

Galatians 1:11-17

Today marks the end of the fifth month in the year. If we are all reading this, it means Christ is yet to come for believers. Congratulations for being alive to witness this day. If, however, some have already been raptured but others have occasion to read this, then there is serious work for the reader. Everyone that God made, He gave the privilege to become His son. But, if after all the investment of the father in us, we refuse to yield to the purpose of the father, then we cannot blame Him for denying such a fellow access to Himself. For many years of his life, Paul was busy annoying God assuming he was working for God. When he eventually encountered the one whom he persecuted but assumed he was working for, he realized his being, and his life never remained the same.

Paul realized that he was only a servant to the one who ransomed him and therefore, did not think so highly of himself. He lived to do the will of his master, Jesus Christ, alone, and not that of any man, no matter how highly placed. He recognized his calling as an apostle sent, not only to the Jews, but more particularly to the Gentiles. And because he knew that the King’s business required haste, particularly because he had wasted so much time outside the realization of his destiny, which was to carry about the gospel of the kingdom, he became completely separated unto the gospel and did not allow any other thing to distract him therefrom. Even though he suffered so much for the gospel of Christ, he was never debarred from forging ahead with it. Everyone who names the name of the Lord must also be ready to bear their cross like bro Paul, to be reckoned as true apostles of the Lord. When he was buffeted in his skin, he was quick to accept that the grace of God was sufficient to see him through.

The Lord wants us to realize that to be His apostle is not about cheese and butter. It does not matter what your background had been, you can still be a vessel unto honor in God’s hands. And if like Paul, upon your realization of the need for you to fulfil destiny as ascribed unto you, you decide to throw everything you have and your person into the propagation of the gospel and you accept Christ as Lord, you, in that stead being His servant, you also can be called an apostle of the Lord doing great works for the Kingdom. However, to be so described, you must be identifiable as a servant of Christ and not a boss doing what you will, without countenancing the tenets of Christ particularly as it relates to the flock.

SOLUTION: Serve Christ as a believer. Do all as unto the Lord, not unto any man or in antagonizing any man. Work selflessly and fulfil the Lord’s mandate.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for the grace to be alive on this last day of the fifth month of the year

·      Thank God for drawing you out of darkness into His marvelous light and showing you His purpose for your life, early in life

·      Pray for the unction to work as servant of Jesus Christ and not for self

·      Ask God to fortify you by His power to ensure that no weapon of the enemy affects you in the work of the ministry

·      Ask God for your daily bread today.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
