Focus: John 15:7 - KJV
7. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 8:31-32
To abide in Christ is to accept Him without objection; to remain stable or fixed in the state of (dwelling) being in Him; and to continue therein. This, to many is a difficult state even though they assume they are abiding in Him while clearly operating outside of Him. They that abide in Him are those that have His word in them and by the knowledge of the word, do the truth which they garner therefrom. Unless a person knows the word of the Lord and accepts the truth thereof, the same is unable to abide in Christ. He is one day appearing righteous and, on another day, so full of filth.
When Christ walked the face of the earth, He spoke is word to many. The few that received the word had their inner eyes enlightened to the truth and received Him to do what He said to them. Others heard the same word from the same source but that which they heard did not profit them in any way since they could not identify the truth in it, perhaps because they were just fixated on the old information which they were used to which Christ said He came to fix or “fulfill”. But the beauty of abiding in Him is that we do now have a blank check to ask whatever we will and have it done unto us.
The Lord is asking that we take not the word of God glibly but with all the seriousness that it deserves so that we may extract the truth in it and be made free from the wiles of the devil. When we be so free, it becomes quite easy for the angels on assignment to reach us with the blessings the Lord has ordered for us. If, however, the Lord does not find us where He expects us to be in Him, how does the errand taker locate us for the necessary delivery? It is by keeping the word of Christ in ourselves that we abide in Him. The same word is welled up in us by the Spirit whenever we are confronted with a need for it.
Please pray:
Thank you, father for making your word available unto me through which I abide in Christ. From this day, make your word come alive unto me every time I read and meditate on it, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let me not know your word alone, let the truth therein glare me in the face and mind, such that I might remain eternally free from every entanglement, in Jesus’ name. Hold me up by your Spirit to remain in you by acting only on your word so as to fulfil your will and purpose for my life, in Jesus’ name. Today, please hand to me the performance of my longstanding prayers, in the mighty name of Jesus.
Please share with others. God bless you.
